1938, Spanish war. Tom, a Flemish butcher, has joined the International Brigades who support the Republican camp in the fight against the troops of General Franco.

In September, when the outcome of the war was decided at the Battle of the Ebro, the Brigades were disbanded in order to respect the non-intervention pact of the European countries! Tom decided to go to Belgium by his own means, through the Pyrenees. He walks with another brigadist, the Pole, and a demining pig: Patanegra.

But if the victory of fascism is inevitable, the war is not yet over for the republicans... some, like Paco, will fight until the end, whatever the cost!
